bushwackers1The Bushwackers are bringing their sensational four piece lineup to The Nerang Folk and Bluegrass festival on June the 8th. The Bushwackers are Festival favourites with multi-generational audiences all around Australia.

Their 41 year history includes 22 Studio album recordings, with the latest Australian Songbook 3 having been released in January of this year, three Golden guitar awards at Tamworth, five books, a DVD and countless performances at festivals, civic events, clubs and pubs all over Australia.

The Bushwackers music spans many influences but primarily the early folk and working songs of the 1800’s and the 1900’s, the instrumental music that came with the first wave of celtic white settlers and contemporary songs that talk of Australian society the way it is today. A Bushwackers show is lively, funny and engaging, it will stir your sense of patriotism and challenge your ideas but always in a highly entertaining way.

The Bushwackers helped to pioneer the Bushdancing movement in Australia in the late 70’s and early 80’s. By far the most successful and visible bushband of any era, the Bushwackers were able to stage huge bushdance events in the inner city venues of Sydney and Melbourne attracting monster crowds and creating legions of fans. Their iconic Dance Album and book is a part of the curriculum for thousands of school children all over the country.

The Bushwackers remain the Australian bushband by which all others can be measured and definitely are a ‘must-see’ act wherever they appear.

The Bushwackers are:

Dobe Newton on Lagerphone and vocals, Roger Corbett on guitar and vocals, Clare O’Meara on fiddle, accordion and vocals and Michael Vidale on double bass.
